Ummm, read the info in the link, the macbook has a faster proc but weighs about a pound heavier and doesn't have a 56k Modem. Otherwise, they are pretty much the same but the macbook is cheaper. Feel free to remove that unsightly foot from you mouth now thanks...

i guess he couldn't try again. i have a mac mini with C2D and "integrated graphics" for 599+ tax. i could've got the same machine with half the price or dedicated graphics and more ram with the same money

The $1099 MacBook does not come with a DVD/CD RW. A machine that costs as much as this should definitely come with a SuperDrive standard.

You guys are advertising Bootcamp as a way for a home user to have Windows on a Mac.

The problem is - who cares? The average user can't even istall Windows Vista (insert the DVD - press any key, follow the instructions), why would they buy a Mac if you can get a normal notebook with a much better OS (Windows Vista/XP), that is compatible with all apps this average user needs?

Why is OS X an advantage? Becouse it is compatible with less programs and hardware than a Windows OS? Becouse it looks different? I've lately seen more problems wih Macs, then with Windows-based PCs and notebooks - and I work in a store where we sell about 100x more PCs than Macs.

Mac is only good for people with big e-penises and some people, who use them for audio/video editing (even tho you can do the same on PCs).

A very good point dan. I knew a guy that tried to save his company money by running star office (okay thats a grenade in a can but anyway) and his boss flat out refused because it would take training to have employees learn something other than office.

The windows fanboys are idiots, they've been making the same arguments forever and even when they're wrong they don't learn. I've always run Macs and this is why.
I had a mouse before you did.
I had ethernet standard before you did.
I had a CD-ROM before you knew what one was.
I had USB before you.
My 10 year old Mac is just starting to reach the end of it's usefulness.
My iMac boots faster than my one year newer Dell.
Despite all the beatings I put my Macs through hacking them, they still work, only twice have I ever had to reload the OS and that was my fault.

I will admit that Apple has failed on a number of occasions.
They were too slow to pick up CDRs
They were slow to pick up the two button mouse (but they did eventually)
They thought that people would pay more for quality.
They resisted hardware mods for too long (but not anymore)
They've resisted TV tuners integrating with the OS (still but you can do it) MacTV could have been awesome but wasn't)
iPhone should have video chat.
iPhone and iPods should have a removable battery
iPods and iPhones should have SD slots.
Jobs is playing too closely to the content protection side of technology. Any time you play that game and there is an alternative, you'll loose customers.

I love my Macs, but Apple has played the closed box game far too long and they only relent when it's clear they lost the fight.

The only difference is, in six months that Dell machine will cost $500 less... while the Mac will be the same price. And underpowered compared to Dell's current offering at the time.

Sad but true reality of Mac hardware. Monopolies don't provide good value for the money- never have, never will.

Older people aren't the target demographic of any computer company. The biggest markets are business, education, and entertainment, all the older people want to do is surf the internet, and get photos of their newly minted granddaughter. doesn't matter what they trust just getting them to find the f'ing power button is a chore.

I find this funny, that you bring up dell and games, I agree that if you really want to play games a pc is the way to go, but not dell, didn't they just announce this week that they are finally getting rid of proprietary components in their game machines. It's because too many gamers were moving away from their peice of shit dell machines, and building their own. Thats what I did with my last game machine, built it myself.
