I always find it amazing how stupid some of you americans are. No, I'm not joking. Why have 90% of you entered into a discussion about the iPhone on here? This post is all about the irony yeh, have you heard of it? It's what makes the whole of FSJ so brilliant and what makes your comments look so hilariously stupid. The iPhone's success is immaterial. Wow I can't believe I'm here explaining all this to you, but then you only have to look at how quickly the americans have trashed all sorts of UK/Europe format TV shows to see how frequently it happens. The main point here (and I hate to reiterate what was so eloquently blogged about, but that is what I do. I'm a reiterator. That's my job and I get paid $140,000 a year doing it.) is that Apple makes excellent innovative products that are ahead of their time. That is why they do so well. They consistently produce the future. I only use MS because it is what I have had to in the past, but it will not be that way in the future. The only other company that is so innovative and forward thinking is Google.

Can you call it "innovative" to create a smartphone? Or to create an MP3 player? Or to create a thin & light laptop? Or a mouse with left and righ-click? Or a computer centered around home-media? All these things, were done way long ago by other companies. So let's face it, all apple has done is put a shiney wrapper around them. Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with it. Appearance means alot in the world today. And more props to Apple for recognizing it. But lets call an orange and orange, and an Apple an apple. You can do it. Just pull your head out of the Steve Jobs' butt long enough to look around a bit. BTW - Devotion without question is close to religious fanaticism, and I don't think many people see religious fanatics as being on the upper-end of the gene-pool.

Years after its introduction, WebObjects remains cutting edge technology that is, for various reasons, withering on the vine. None of those reasons are technical, I might add...

Ahhhh the doubters who do not understand. As my client says... I can do all that stuff on my phone already. What he doesn't understand is that it's he and a population of thousands (okay maybe millions)... in a world of billions. Everybody that wants a Windows Mobile phone already has one. Not only does everybody that wants a Palm already have one, but tons more that have a Palm DON'T want one.

If you have a smartphone and it's not an iphone and your happy, this will mean nothing to you. People used Commodore computers (not a completely fair comparison since Commodore actually sold a lot of comptuers unlike the other smartphone guys)... and even Apple IIs... for years. I suppose they might have been happy. But that is not the future...

Windows Mobile, and RIM and Zune and Palm and maybe Symbian have a secure future in this world.... as vehicles for cult worship.... and interesting Wikipedia articles. Just like Altair, Kaypro, Atari, Osborne.

Until I actually SEE an Kindle in the wild, I'm not sure it can die. It has live first.

Isn't this the same mantra I heard last year, and the year before and five years before that? I thought so. The penguins will never dominate, it is a pipe dream. Don't get me wrong, a big group of flightless birds can be a force for change, but could never rule the world. Open source is niche, or at best, tucked away in ultra specific markets and uses (I like the toilet comment playitcool). :-)
