I couldn't agree more. Just look what General George Patton did. Now his 1943 Africa campaign was a masterful example of how to get some respect. I'm looking for a leader who can do the same.

I saw Bill Clinton speak today ... he was within spitting distance of my polling place, so me and My Fair Lady said, what the heck, let's not wait 'til March 4th, let's early vote and watch the ex-Prez campaign for his lady, Senator Rodzilla. After enjoying a balmy 88 degrees yesterday, Ol' Man Winter paid a return visit to Big D. 'Twas sunny and clear but the air was cold and biting, with an arctic blast that tore through one's bones . We found a good parking space, amazing, amazing, went in and voted for The Audacity and voted also for quite a few judges and tax assessors, etc., who were running unopposed. I refused to vote for one County Commissioner who was running unopposed. I'm running a campaign encouraging people NOT to vote for him so he only wins by the least amount of votes, if at all. Ideally, if he and his supporters forget to vote, he'd have zero votes and have to run by himself AGAIN in a runoff election. No votes at all in that race would send the appropriate message, I hope.
SO we voted and walked across a playground over to where the Hills supporters and The MENINBLACK had set up a red Chevy pickup where Bill would speak. The exPrez was an hour late, so the local Clintonistas fed the three hundred* (?) strong crowd free steak tacos. I didn't eat any, I just used them to keep my hands and trouser pockets warm. I grabbed a couple for my famished Fair Lady, who happily gobbled 'em up, while we cuddled and shivered. Eventually, Bill appeared, was introduced by a local councilwoman, he stood up on back of truck in a fine suit with a bodacious orange silk tie, and made one of those speeches that made me forget the nightmare that's been the past eight years, and made feel like it was 1998 all over again. He refused to talk trash about Barak Obama, but laid to waste Cheney and Bush, in that order ("They give experience a bad name") and encouraged people to vote for his wife, who is very well remembered and thought of by the Hispanic community in Dallas and all over Texas. That group will make or break Obama in Texas. Anyway, Bill continued, more or less, no matter who gets elected, Barry or Hills, either way, America will get the best president, but you can't go wrong with Hillary, who has the experience, connections, etcetera, etcetera. Afterwards, he shook a lot of hands ("He touched me, dear, he touched my hand!" "You want me to get it bronzed or call a lawyer?" SMACK!KICK!WHAP!), we got a few digital snaps and we left the crowd. The man has his own RDF**, people show up and melt like butter (except for guy, a paraplegic who kept on shouting "Jews", and "Jews, too", every time Clinton mentioned a laundry list of minorities. The MENINBLACK got right on top of that guy and eyeballed him until Bill sped away in his armor-plated SUV) .
On Tuesday next, I have to hie on back to the polling place for the caucus, that's held immediately after the polls close at seven. From that caucus, the winners goes on to county then state delegate parties, which decides which candidate gets all the Texas delegates and who gets to go to national convention. In 2004, it was a slam dunk for Kerry. Nobody gets a slam dunk this year.

*a little more than three hundred, I did a head count, 348, not including organizers, security and ten local media people covering event.

Wow. It's really pathetic how often so-called journalists keep falling for Republican propaganda. You may as well be Steven J. Vaughan-Cut-and-Paste. But at least he does it about something that means as little as stupid Lunix-related tech bullshit. You do it about politics, which is something that effects every US citizen.

I don't suppose it matters that the Clinton campaign says they had nothing to do with this? And the response the Clinton staff did give, aside from saying they had nothing to do with it, is dead on; why is the Obama campaign making such a big deal about this? It's a picture of Obama in local garb, like many politicians have had taken. If some Clinton staffer did circulate it on their own, so what? The Obama campaign should have said, "Yes, Barack visited Nigeria, among other places, and honored local traditions. Thanks for pointing that out." Instead we get the usual hue and cry that the Clintons are "playing the race card! OMG, can you believe they are trying to PLALY THE RACE CARD? If you don't vote for Obama now, you are obviously as big a racist as those race-card playing Clintons!" Gimme a break. Drudge Report. Sheesh.

Sincerity and satire do not always go together but there is no reason why they can't go together. Beneath the satire of FSJ DL is actually trying to make a sincere point about US politics. It IS the sincerity that makes the satire any good in fact. If FSJ was just engaged in pissing on everyone and everything than it could still be funny and it might even still be good satire... and perhaps some of the best FSJ posts are just this. But DL isn't, I think, a writer that doesn't care about anything except page views, cheap laughs, and book sales. I think he really cares sometimes and the decision2008 posts reflect this sincerity. And at least some of the readers who post in the comments here also contribute sincere and intelligent commentary.

This isn't really a tech forum, but it attracts a lot of tech-savvy types. This isn't really a political forum but the US election is more important than it even usually has been... and DL/FSJ has strong convictions. FSJ is a vehicle through which the entertainment is delivered but I suspect that DL has sincere and passionate politic beliefs. This blog IS more than the sum of its parts and it is much more than a fake CEO satirical blog.

So maybe now I am reading too much between the lines but this blog/forum can be different things to different people.

So Gunny, I thank you for your sincere and intelligent response to my response to your response to my original post... But... I do come here for both the satire AND the intelligent commentary AND the sincere interest that DL slips in between the lines that FSJ writes. There is a time and a place for DailyKos, etc, but I'm comfortable here... It is still a free country, as the saying goes, is it not? I don't expect everyone to agree with what I write but I hope that occasionally some proportion of readers find something in it that reveals a different perspective from what they already have.

You may have been sincere, in fact that's is what I read into your comments, that you were being sincere. My problem with that is that isn't a place for sincerity. For sincere discussions of the ramifications of the election to the rest of the world I suggest someplace like the daily koos or michele malkin. This is a satire blog.

It was Al Gore who brought up Willie Horton, then a 3rd party advocacy group who brought it up on behalf of Bush. Bush Sr. didn't want to go that direction, it was some over-zealous anti-Dukakis folks who did.

But the best part was Dukakis dismissing the whole Willie Horton thing out of hand, explaining that, as Commander and Chief, he would not be responsible for state prison furlough programs, so it didn't matter that Horton murdered some people on the same, ill-conceived furlough program. Whatever else one can say about Al Gore, he certainly shouldn't have lost to Dukaka in a fair fight. Dukakis was an idiot. "My horribly damage bad judgement as governor shouldn't have anything to do with my run for president, given that I'll have a whole bunch of different federal programs to ruin and/or create to do horrible damage on a national level, and won't have anything to do with prison furlough programs. Oh, and look, I'm in a tank!" Sheesh.

If anything, Real Hillary Rodham's colors are unveiled, the raw naked unbridled desperate ambition, imagine how she would eviscerate McCain. She probably reads Tom Clancy (for laughs, not ideas) and is chompin' at the bit to show off her cajones.
I'd almost swear Rove is secretly working for her. This mild mannered political analyst act is just a cover. As sad and as comical as her act in Ohio is now, I think enough people are wising up. Unfortunately, when we caucus after the polls close next Tuesday at seven, I'm sure the Clinstones people will outnumber the Obamanans and try to warp the Texas delegate convention.
