The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs : The best Christmas song of all time
I'll take that bet....sucker.
You're parrotting right wing propaganda now? Quoting Drudge? Matt "John Kerry had an affair, oh wait no he didn't, oops my bad sorry" Drudge? Matt "Bill Clinton has a love child, oh wait no he doesn't, oops my bad sorry" Drudge?
Whats next, you going to quote Fox News? Rush Limbaugh? Karl Rove? Newsmax?
To me, this story seems like the perfect crime. The Republicans get to smear Obama and continue their racist and religious hate speech... and blame it all on Hillary! And you assholes in the media just buy it! Because Matt fuckin Drudge says it must be true!
Wow. It's really pathetic how often so-called journalists keep falling for Republican propaganda. You may as well be Steven J. Vaughan-Cut-and-Paste. But at least he does it about something that means as little as stupid Lunix-related tech bullshit. You do it about politics, which is something that effects every US citizen.
Just a little fact check here. The first person to bring up Wille Horton against Dukakis in 1988 was NOT Bush Sr. In fact, it was your buddy, board member, and former Senatard Al Gore, who lost to Dukakis in the primaries that year. (That's right--he LOST to MIKE DUKAKIS! Fuckin losser.)
But the best part was Dukakis dismissing the whole Willie Horton thing out of hand, explaining that, as Commander and Chief, he would not be responsible for state prison furlough programs, so it didn't matter that Horton murdered some people on the same, ill-conceived furlough program. Whatever else one can say about Al Gore, he certainly shouldn't have lost to Dukaka in a fair fight. Dukakis was an idiot. "My horribly damage bad judgement as governor shouldn't have anything to do with my run for president, given that I'll have a whole bunch of different federal programs to ruin and/or create to do horrible damage on a national level, and won't have anything to do with prison furlough programs. Oh, and look, I'm in a tank!" Sheesh.
And to prepare for this outrage, I donated $20.08 + shipping and handling to the Obama campaign on 2/19. And to thank me for my donation, they are sending me a t-shirt of my choosing, as long as it's in stock.
You're absolutely right. People were sickened when they learned (too late, alas) about the "illegitimate black baby" crap Rove pulled on McCain. Try as they might, the muslim claim didn't stick; and this won't go even that far.
As a Canadian it often seems like we have a front row seat to American political, environmental, and social problems... Probably no country in the world likes Americans as much as we do and yet we define our identity in opposition to those qualities in America that we don't share. Love/Hate is too strong a term but most Canadians have a, well, sense of some ambivalence towards the US at the best of times.
But this Democratic nomination process... Wow. When you say,
"I'm betting American people are better and smarter and a lot less bigoted than the Clintons give them credit for. I'm betting a lot of Americans feel really good about a dude who can travel to Africa and the rest of the world and reach out to them and respect them and earn their respect in return",
we are most definitely hoping that you are right. Looking in from the outside gives a lot of us non-Americans cause for hope... and for worry.
(And so what if it ain't true?)
(And by the way, stop the right wing lie that Gore brought up "Willie Horton" first. In a debate, he questioned the wisdom of this kind of parole program. He did not mention Horton, he did not tell the racist narrative that the Bush campaign later profited from.)
The most likely source of the Obama picture, for whatever it's worth, is the right. And a big so what to it.
I'd almost swear Rove is secretly working for her. This mild mannered political analyst act is just a cover. As sad and as comical as her act in Ohio is now, I think enough people are wising up. Unfortunately, when we caucus after the polls close next Tuesday at seven, I'm sure the Clinstones people will outnumber the Obamanans and try to warp the Texas delegate convention.
And as for FSJ's thing about we're better, smarter, and less bigoted? Smarter??
SO we voted and walked across a playground over to where the Hills supporters and The MENINBLACK had set up a red Chevy pickup where Bill would speak. The exPrez was an hour late, so the local Clintonistas fed the three hundred* (?) strong crowd free steak tacos. I didn't eat any, I just used them to keep my hands and trouser pockets warm. I grabbed a couple for my famished Fair Lady, who happily gobbled 'em up, while we cuddled and shivered. Eventually, Bill appeared, was introduced by a local councilwoman, he stood up on back of truck in a fine suit with a bodacious orange silk tie, and made one of those speeches that made me forget the nightmare that's been the past eight years, and made feel like it was 1998 all over again. He refused to talk trash about Barak Obama, but laid to waste Cheney and Bush, in that order ("They give experience a bad name") and encouraged people to vote for his wife, who is very well remembered and thought of by the Hispanic community in Dallas and all over Texas. That group will make or break Obama in Texas. Anyway, Bill continued, more or less, no matter who gets elected, Barry or Hills, either way, America will get the best president, but you can't go wrong with Hillary, who has the experience, connections, etcetera, etcetera. Afterwards, he shook a lot of hands ("He touched me, dear, he touched my hand!" "You want me to get it bronzed or call a lawyer?" SMACK!KICK!WHAP!), we got a few digital snaps and we left the crowd. The man has his own RDF**, people show up and melt like butter (except for guy, a paraplegic who kept on shouting "Jews", and "Jews, too", every time Clinton mentioned a laundry list of minorities. The MENINBLACK got right on top of that guy and eyeballed him until Bill sped away in his armor-plated SUV) .
On Tuesday next, I have to hie on back to the polling place for the caucus, that's held immediately after the polls close at seven. From that caucus, the winners goes on to county then state delegate parties, which decides which candidate gets all the Texas delegates and who gets to go to national convention. In 2004, it was a slam dunk for Kerry. Nobody gets a slam dunk this year.
*a little more than three hundred, I did a head count, 348, not including organizers, security and ten local media people covering event.
**Reality Distortion Field
I couldn't agree more. Just look what General George Patton did. Now his 1943 Africa campaign was a masterful example of how to get some respect. I'm looking for a leader who can do the same.
Yeah Dems, drop Hillary, the only competent candidate you have. After all you don't want a woman now do you? Women - Yuck! And of course you are all right. She really is the Wicked Witch of the West.
While I do share your concern about letting a terrorist in the White house, short of him chanting "Death to America" on CNN, Osama will walk all over the lobbyist loving POW.
Uh.. intenselygreen, FSJ is making a veiled reference to GWB's apparently highly successful trip to Africa last week. Even Bob Geldorf said that Bush did more for Africa than any other American President. You really need to learn to read between the lines of this blog.
Uh... More than any other US president.... Hmm... I guess you are probably also including the presidents Washington, Adams, and Jefferson that allowed US ships to abduct and enslave Africans? Or presidents #4 through #16 that allowed slavery to continue for another 60 years after that? Even considering every other president since Lincoln, the US doesn't have a lot to self-congratulate about concerning Africa and GWB being the best of the US presidents in this regard is nothing particularly impressive... even if Bob Geldof says so. Or Bob Geldorf for that matter.
Hey Gunny, I get FSJ I think, and BTW Canada and the rest of the Western countries have precious little to show either with regards to Africa. I posted, I think, with a sincere perspective as a non-American on US politics that I thought people might find interesting... if it isn't interesting to you than skip down to the "I'd hit it" posts and feel superior to me. But Gunny, I think I read between the lines just fine, thank you.
What Americans decide in this 2008 election has ramifications to the rest of the world... including to Africa. More than I think most Americans appreciate. We watch from the outside but we don't get to vote. Just my $0.02. Canadian.
You may have been sincere, in fact that's is what I read into your comments, that you were being sincere. My problem with that is that isn't a place for sincerity. For sincere discussions of the ramifications of the election to the rest of the world I suggest someplace like the daily koos or michele malkin. This is a satire blog.
Sorry I spelled Bob's name wrong by the way, it wasn't a typo, just cluelessness on my part.
This isn't really a tech forum, but it attracts a lot of tech-savvy types. This isn't really a political forum but the US election is more important than it even usually has been... and DL/FSJ has strong convictions. FSJ is a vehicle through which the entertainment is delivered but I suspect that DL has sincere and passionate politic beliefs. This blog IS more than the sum of its parts and it is much more than a fake CEO satirical blog.
So maybe now I am reading too much between the lines but this blog/forum can be different things to different people.
So Gunny, I thank you for your sincere and intelligent response to my response to your response to my original post... But... I do come here for both the satire AND the intelligent commentary AND the sincere interest that DL slips in between the lines that FSJ writes. There is a time and a place for DailyKos, etc, but I'm comfortable here... It is still a free country, as the saying goes, is it not? I don't expect everyone to agree with what I write but I hope that occasionally some proportion of readers find something in it that reveals a different perspective from what they already have.
Peace,
45 years later, and nobody the wiser.
Don't call me a WIMP!
Quote Little Richard "Shut up!"
You are just so deluded, you and the rest of the Osama-lites, you know those fall into two camps, delusional idiots, or terrorists. I'm trying to rescue you by showing you people the simple truth. If Americans want to respect terrorists and hear what's causing them to blow up the WTC, well, then you have to ask what type of Johnny Lindh Walker world we're all living in.
But it's ok, go ahead and deny this stuff all you want, eventually the terrorist will be exposed for what he is. But don't you worry, son, just in case Osama for some reason does become the president. (The elephants don't count, us Dems will be winning period) Plan B will be activated to ensure that Osama not hurt the US.
You know, when people don't like the truth, they turn around and call it a smear. But believe in the truth, FSJ, it will set you free.
So, let me direct you into the tent, you know, the one in Gitmo... you psycho.
